Ocular Invasion Pyraminds Series 2Originally uploaded by blakewest
Silly movie I made of how the Series 2 Pyraminds toy works. I think this might just qualify as the world’s first art-novelty paper toy.

Just picked up this guy. One of ten hand painted resin figures by Jared Deal. OK. No more toys for the month of April. <sigh>
I posted an entry in the Giant Robot Shin contest, but I hope this unambiguously ultra-awesome design wins the prize. Such a strong design. This really knocks my socks off. I hope a template becomes available so I can build it myself!

If I could only buy one more toy ever and had the money to buy what ever I wanted, it would be this Qee custom by Reactor-88. The totem style is awesome and flawlessly executed.
This reminds me of the old favorite Magic Mouth spell from Dungeons & Dragons. I played D & D a bit while in middle school, and then again while a college freshman. The stuff we did in middle school was pretty lame. I didn’t really feel like hanging out in the hot attic room at the local game shop to play my character with a bunch of assholes. Go figure.
In college, I only played because there was a pretty committed and imaginative DM available. The game had a good story behind it with lots of crazy cliff hangers. We also had a fairly comfortable space to play (classroom). And sadly I had nothing better to do. I’m glad I played so I have a little connection to that subculture, but fiction is basically lost on me now if it requires any effor ton my part. Like reading or thinking.
Also, this sculpture would also make an excellent small vinyl or cast resin toy. Make it so.

Internet user Spatula Tzar recently saw an illustration on the internet of how to build an airplane from matchsticks and a few houseflies. Build and flight test results are now available. But did it work??

At $12 for one inch of plastic, these customized Lego minifigs only seem appropriate for compulsive collectors or bazillionaires.
