I saw this link a while back about “The CFL mercury nightmare“. Apparently, if you contact people about a problem that lack a sense of proportion, it will give you nightmares. Better to rely on some quiet research before you talk to the crazies.

Hektor is a tool and artist’s statement by Jürg Lehni and Uli Franke that takes high-precision vector designs in Adobe Illustrator and reproduces those designs with a low-precision, software controlled device.
The device uses a can of spray paint suspended by two toothed belts attached to motors. The software interprets the Illustrator design, operates the motors to move the can, and activates the spray nozzle to print designs on a vertical surface. The makers of Hektor have fine-tuned the device to achieve a level of imprecision that delights the viewer of the finished work, while at the same time producing recognizable pictures and text.
A couple of my favorite Hektor products are the font sampler and a 3-D pie chart that uses textures to distinguish the slices.
The Hektor website offers pictures, videos, and documentation about the project.

Hey! This is pretty exciting. The blog Google OS has posted an iGoogle tab that you can add to iGoogle in it’s entirety. It includes my gadget Google Services Links: A Tidy, customizable List. The post talks about how you can share an entire tab of content in iGoogle, including all the settings you have added to the gadgets.
